There is also a Helpline available at the Centre during the same office hours as South Road drop-in. There is always someone available to talk through any issues you may have, however trivial they may seem. Many people feel just talking through a problem can really make a difference. A problem shared really can be a problem halved!
If there are any issues you feel you need to discuss in more detail, talking to a counsellor might be a positive way of doing this. It can help you get things into perspective, and help you see things more clearly.
Your doctor or social worker may be able to arrange counselling sessions for you, or there are some groups that offer counselling. Alternatively, you may wish to book an appointment with one of the counsellors at the Carers Centre.
The Carers Centre offers a confidential, person-centred counselling service to individual carers which is run by a number of qualified volunteer counsellors. The objectives of particular counselling relationships will vary according to the carer's needs but typical examples include managing stress, relationship difficulties and issues to do with loss. The overall aim of the service is to provide an opportunity to enable carers to work towards living in a way they experience as more satisfying.
